A Face Amongst The Crowd

Cross Section Music • 1998

The re-release of the 1998 house classic A Face Amongst the Crowd by DJ Assassin reignites its infectious groove in 2026. Whilst the four tracks are purposefully designed to hit the dance floor in their minimalist way, each one can stand alone as a wonderful tool for a specific moment during a party.

There’s the rather restrained, yet no less powerful groove of »Face in the Crowd«, punctuated by a melting guitar and funky organs. »Jammin Marvellous Obliviously Obvious« lives up to its title: a drawn-out exclamation mark that, with sirens and claps on the kick, dispels even the last vestiges of doubt and noticeably ramps up the energy.

The »Intellidread Mix« delivers more punch than the original mix, seems more focused and sharper, and cuts through with dubby vocal chops. Finally, »Beats for Ya Feet« completes the puzzle with a useful tool track, rounding off an EP that is as versatile as it is distinctive and can achieve the desired effect for any DJ, depending on the situation.
