Montreal’s Naff Recordings and Melbourne’s Animalia join forces for Serpentine, a collaborative EP by artists Ok EG and Priori. Created during a joint session at the Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio and completed together afterward, the four tracks present a fascinating study in balance and sensitivity. The term “feather-tech,” used by the artists themselves, describes the sound with surprising accuracy: light and airy, precise yet grounded by rougher textures.
The result is a deeply audiophile experience — hypnotic, dreamlike, never static. Each track unfolds organically, evolving with subtle shifts while remaining firmly rooted in a techno context. Tiny sonic changes build a tangible sense of depth over time, yet the music never feels intrusive. The experience and restraint of the artists show in the arrangement: every element is placed with intention, every transition feels thoughtful without ever seeming overdesigned. Best appreciated on quality headphones — though Serpentine is just as capable of producing those dancefloor moments where moving turns into floating.
