SHXCXCHCXSH are a little myth in themselves. No faces, no names, hell, they don’t even have vowels. Their music? Menacing surfaces, abrasive scrapings and banging kick drums. It is as if bits of despair have mated with a strange kind of euphoria – faceless techno at its purest. The Swedish duo – this much we know – have stuck to well-tried codes and traditional values. Until now, that is. And while the two musicians haven’t revealed their names or faces to the public, they have expanded their musical range, have bid farewell to their tool and have now come forward with their first real record. Its predecessor, last year’s »STRGHTS« had basically been made for the dancefloor, one track following the other. Now, in contrast, the 13 new tracks on »Linear S Decoded« have been wrapped up in a leitmotif. Due to SHXCXCHCXSH’s surprising reorientation, they’re even in for some dubby breathers – and have thereby basically refined and intensified their dark, multicolored techno. After the hard sounds that shaped their music in the last two years, »Linear S Decoded« is now coming along as a promise: SHXCXCHCXSH will stick to their old values while conquering new territories, that’s for sure. The myth will go on.
