In their second collaborative work, Violeta García and Hora Lunga translate, according to the song titles, the peripheral moments of travel into a dystopian soundscape. Following their 2025 debut on -ous, 4ever expands that familiar aesthetic onto a darker, more spacious canvas. Where its predecessor I’ll Wait For You In The Car Park lingered in small-scale moments of surprise, the scenes here tip into the epic, at times into a collapse that seems never to end.
From the most reduced means imaginable – García’s cello, alongside Hora Lunga’s synthesisers, samples and field recordings – a body of sound emerges with astonishing density. Fragile melodies meet orchestral cello gestures, heavy bass meets compressed noise. The boundaries between acoustic and electronic seem finally to dissolve. Recurring motifs break off, return in fragments, open for a moment onto a window of bright synth harmonies, before withdrawing once more into shadow. Only the final two tracks, »la ola or i miss u« and »at the terminal but lost«, offer calm and at times beautiful ambient passages, setting at least two bright accents against the dark canvas of 4ever.
