One day before its official release, Robyn’s Sexistential will be available to hear at HHV Store in Berlin-Friedrichshain on Thursday 26 March from 6 pm – and available to buy as a pre-release. Every purchase comes with exclusive merch, while stocks last. HHV is also offering the album as a limited deluxe clear vinyl LP in a screen-printed polybag with a 28-page booklet. The cassette is likewise exclusively available here in mainland Europe – sorry, Faroe Islands.
Pop and its opposite
One thing is certain: Robyn sings from the outside. As a dancefloor outsider, as a lover who watches. That has been her fundamental position – from her first musical steps in 1994 through Body Talk (2010) to Honey (2018). Sexistential turns that outsider position into a model for living: artificial insemination as a single mother, reproduction without a relationship, sex without consequence. No more heartbreak on the dancefloor. Produced once again with Klas Åhlund, and featuring two co-writes with Max Martin, the most commercial name in pop history. Mainstream pop – and its complete opposite. As Robyn sings on the first single: »I know it’s so dopamine but it feels so real to me.«
