Anyone looking for music that bursts genres, expands the senses and improves the soul will find it in early September in a small town: in eastern Belgium, just across the German border; in Eupen, next to the Alter Schlachthof. From 3 to 9 September 2026, the Meakusma Festival returns there. Four days of concerts, DJ sets and workshops.
To sketch the line-up even briefly is impossible. 140 acts have been announced. There is no classic headliner.
Basically everything is interesting
Anyone into electronic music will notice DJ Plead. Or Ibraham Alfa Jnr, who has only just released a techno album that leans into trip-hop, breathing jazz and dub between the hits. The great, defining Demdike Stare are coming. The UK weird-dubbers Gombeen & Doygen have been announced.
Anyone looking for jazz will find Dudù Kouat, member of the legendary Art Ensemble of Chicago. He plays 200 instruments. By September, he will surely have made his selection. Garth Erasmus is coming. His deep, deep, deep Threnody for the KhoiSan still gets regular plays in the editorial office.

Then, with Anderson do Paraíso, there is also a young gun in the line-up. He is among the currently most influential baile funk DJs and producers. Also young and fire: Raisa K. Her Affectionately was one of our albums of the year last year.
So, and this really is only the tip of this melting iceberg. Pat Thomas is coming. Jasss too. The full line-up and tickets are available on the Meakusma website.
