Jazz band The Bad Plus set to rock Berlin

08.02.24

Goodbye piano, hello electric guitar! Former piano trio The Bad Plus are coming to the Gretchen in Berlin on March 27th, 2024 as a four-piece jazz-rock blast. This will appeal to indie kids and avant-garde fans alike. After all, The Bad Plus mix elegant post-bop with an open-hearted rawness that’s more likely to be heard on a rock stage than in a jazz cellar.

From Nirvana to Kamasi Washington

The Bad Plus have been around since 2000. Their first albums were released on Columbia, the band covered Aphex Twin, Tears for Fears (see below) and Nirvana, and played 170 shows a year at one point. In 2022 »The Bad Plus.« was released on Edition Records, the personal reinvention of The Bad Plus. On this album, it’s not just the saxophone and electric guitar that are shaking hands with Kamasi Washington or John Zorn, but the entire present-day.
