Gretchen in Berlin-Kreuzberg is launching a new series of events: the G Sessions bring together some of the city’s most talented jazz musicians for an open jam session. Hosted by the crew Outernationals with keyboardist Szabolcs Bognár (Àbáse), bassist Yannick Nolting and drummer Lukas Akintaya.
The first G session will be held on May 7, 2025. Including: US trumpeter Theo Croker, the Moses Yofee Trio as representatives of the Berlin jazz scene – and special guest singer and performer Wayne Snow. And all that for a small price. No brainer! .
Open, wild & improvised
The three Outernationals have long been a mainstay of Berlin’s jazz-savvy scene. With their open-genre projects and influences deeply rooted in Afrobeat, jazz, funk and soul, they have been shaping the city’s sound for years. Àbáse runs the Oshu label and has worked as a studio musician for Dele Sosimi, Pat Thomas and Zeitgeist Freedom Energy Exchange, among others. Yannick Nolting is co-founder of the band Jembaa Groove, Lukas Akintaya is part of the Holon Trio.
