Once again Kevin Martin gathers an impressive cast of collaborators around him, fires greasiest UK bass through the speakers and creams the whole thing with industrial marinated ragga, grime and dubstep – tastier beat barbecues of exorbitant quality there were definitely none this year. Old friends like Moor Mother, Manga Saint Hilare or Flowdan are on his album »Fire«, which will be released on August 27th, 2021 on Ninja Tune, as well as fresh faces of the caliber of Logan, Nazamba and FFSYTHO.
The album was born out of a lack of live experience that marked the lives of most artists worldwide last year. Known worldwide as The Bug, Kevin Martin set out to capture the intensity of his performances with unfiltered power on a studio album – and succeeded across the board. Breaking features like »Clash« with Logan or »Hammer« with Flowdan inspire a longing for those same sweaty experiences, whose return seems more tangible with each passing month. In any case, the fire is lit, the grate is glowing, chin water incoming.
