In November 2023, Leiter, Nils Frahm’s label for experimental music, released the album »Ocean« by the Moses Yoofee Trio, which is only 23 minutes long. It features five tracks of dynamic jazz with unmistakable references to hip-hop, R’n’B and soul music. Well, The word is out that the Berlin musicians Moses Yoofee (keys), Roman Klobe (bass) and Noah Fürbringer (drums) have a certain power. WDR3 calls the trio »Berlin’s hottest hype«, and in April they were awarded the German Jazz Prize as »Live Act of the Year«.
Explosive and sophisticated
The only downer in their comet-like rise: until now, the Moses Yoofee Trio has lacked vinyl. But that is now changing. »Ocean« will be released on vinyl on September 13, 2024. Black coloured, limited to 500 copies, exclusively available in Germany, Austria and Switzerland from HHV Records. The whole thing fits in with our Summer Of Jazz, which this year is dedicated to »Jazz in Berlin«. The album was recorded at the Brewery Studios in Berlin, where also Àbáse has just recorded his new album, and was produced by Erik Breuer and mixed by Tytus Lesczcynski. You don’t need any more arguments than that.
