»We Die Young« is a single EP by American rock band Alice in Chains. It was originally released in July 1990. As the first studio EP, it formed the basis for over 30 million records sold by the band . It is a solely promotional EP that was released on vinyl and cassette at the time, making it a highly sought-after collector’s item among Alice in Chains fans. In addition, »Ahora Me Da Pena« will feature three bonus tracks that have never been released on vinyl before. A record for all those who are already longing for the ultimate summer feeling in spring. Franziska Nistler

Noddin' Ya Head The Lost Album From Ronnie Scott's Record Store Day 2022 Vinyl Edition
Resonance • 2022 • from 75.99€
»The Lost Album From Ronnie Scott’s« is a previously unreleased live recording of jazz composer Charles Mingus from London’s Ronnie Scott’s Club. The band, consisting of Charles McPherson, Bobby Jones, Jon Faddis, John Foster and Roy Brooks, can be heard here on a recording from 1972. Fuzzy Haskins
Radio Active Record Store Day 2022 Vinyl Edition
Tidal Waves Music • 1976 • from 29.99€
Fuzzy Haskins cuddled with George Clinton early on, was a founding member of Parliament and Funkadelic and has been hanging in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with his moustache for 25 years. The fact that Haskins left the group during the P-Funk hype in the 70s and continued solo did his career good. He recruited his studio band from the Funkadelic clan anyway. “Radio Active”, released in 1978, landed between disco, space funk and basslines that still undress you today. No wonder Prince, Prodigy and Fatboy Slim were to sample the record. Tidal Waves is now reissuing the thing for the first time. Christoph Benkeser

Golden Smog
On Golden Smog Record Store Day 2022 Vinyl Edition
Rykodisc • 1992 • from 25.99€
In 1992, post-punk was out in Minneapolis and grunge had not yet arrived. Golden Smog, a male band of musicians who sooner or later founded bands like Wilco, Replacement or Soul Asylum, came together – and planed out the meanest country rock for Buffalo Bill on the guitar. Smells like desert spirit, but the CD was released by Crackpot Records. And the name said it all. On the occasion of their 30th anniversary, Rykodisc gave Golden Smog’s debut EP a fresh vinyl treatment. Hallelujah hillbilly! Christoph Benkeser

Joni Mitchell
Blue Highlights Record Store Day 2022 Vinyl Edition
Rhino • 2022 • from 42.99€
In a discography full of highlights, »Blue«, released in 1971 on Reprise, is considered by many to be the definitive masterpiece of the Canadian song poet. Joni Mitchell fans can rejoice: As part of their ongoing »Archives« series, Rhino Records are releasing this selection of extremely rare recordings from the »Blue« sessions. The RSD release, limited to 9,000 copies, comes in black vinyl and was conceived with the creative collaboration of Joni Mitchell herself. Harry Schmidt

Karen Dalton
Shuckin' Sugar Record Store Day 2022 Clear Vinyl Edition
Delmore • 2022 • from 31.99€
A voice like Billie Holiday, a guitar playing like Jimmy Reed – and yet a musician only appreciated by colleagues. Which is why Karen Dalton was denied both great and modest success. Despite such appreciative words from Bob Dylan. For Record Store Day, there is now a previously unknown recording with seven never-before-heard songs by the folk singer. And the limited edition record called »Shuckin’ Sugar« on transparent vinyl is the best opportunity for a new discovery of her work. Björn Bischoff

Kuba Wiecek Trio
Multitasking - Polish Jazz Volume 82
Warner Music Poland • 2022 • from 30.99€
Kuba Więcek is lucky. He just about passes for a Millennial. The Pole was born in 1994, but in the meantime he is being traded among a select circle of jazz musicians who are taking the genre in a new direction. Even Shabaka Hutchings congratulates him. With his trio, Kuba, the saxophonist, released »Multitasking« in 2019, picking up a few awards and at the same time airing the stink of old man fart and cigar smoke from the jazz cellar. Clearly, Warner Music Poland is reissuing the record for Record Store Day in a edition of only 300. Christoph Benkeser

Primal Scream
Shine Like Stars (Weatherall Mix) Record Store Day 2022 Vinyl Edition
Sme Uk • 2022 • from 25.99€
We don’t need to say a word about Primal Scream. But we do about the remix of »Shine Like Stars«. Andrew Weatherall, who died in 2020 and remixed everything and everyone between Björk and New Order during his lifetime, pulled the song through his mixer in 1991, shortly after the release of »Screamadelica«. For whatever reason, the track disappeared until the record company pulled it from dusty disks 30 years later to create an anniversary memorial for Primal Scream. Fair enough – after all, the remix is a master example of the crossover of house, rave and rock. Still. Christoph Benkeser

Sandro Brugnolini
OST L'uomo Dagli Occhiali A Specchio Record Store Day 2022 Clear Vinyl Edition
Redi • 2022 • from 28.99€
Sandro Brugnolini was an Italian saxophonist and film composer. His soundtrack for the two-part RAI television thriller »L’uomo dagli occhiali a specchio« mixes atmospheric string sounds, free sound experiments, jazz impressionism and fusion funk, as befits a film whose protagonist wears sunglasses. The musicians included avant-garde trombonist Giancarlo Schiaffini. The Redi label is now releasing the rare 1975 record on transparent vinyl. Tim Caspar Boehme

Weyes Blood
A Certain Kind / Everybody's Talkin' Record Store Day 2022 Vinyl Edition
Mexican Summer • 2022 • from 19.99€
The organ is glowing, the pathos is storming. Weyes Blood, born and raised in Sunny California, has been crooning into the microphone since the early 2010s, released two albums on Mexican Summer and only narrowly missed mainstream success with her last record on Sub Pop. In 2017, she released two cover versions of »A Certain Kind« and »Everybody Talkin’« – by Soft Machine and Fred Neil. You have to dare, but it works so well with Weyes Blood in particular that you take the old records where they belong: to the nearest second-hand shop. The double single is released as a 7″, limited to 2,000 copies. Christoph Benkeser

V.A.
Brazil 45 Volume 3 Curated By Kenny Dope Record Store Day 2022 Vinyl Edition
Mr Bongo • 2022 • from 34.99€
The »Brazil 45« series of the British label Mr Bongo presents personal favourites from the »golden era« of Brazilian music in the sixties and seventies, selected by changing DJs as guest curators. For the third box of five singles, producer Kenny Dope, one half of Masters at Work, has gathered his favourite numbers, with drummer Milton Banana’s trio and percussionist Papepte featuring particularly strongly. Kenny Dope himself contributes four remixes. Tim Caspar Boehme
