Born in San Francisco in 1966, native Californian Tommy Guerrero was a professional skateboarder in the 1980s, competing internationally with his crewmate Tony Hawk. Since the late 1990s, he has gradually established himself as a successful musician, with no fewer than 17 studio albums to his name and around half a million listeners a month enjoying his music today.

From four roles to six strings
In terms of sound, Tommy Guerrero has remained true to himself over this long period: Guerrero makes instrumental music that is influenced by various genres such as rock, hip-hop, funk and soul. Similar to Khruangbin, the melodic guitar playing takes the lead, combining simple, groove-generating rhythms with an atmospheric foundation of jazzy chords. Tommy Guerrero himself describes his latest album »Amber of Memory« as »surf goth«.
