Those thinking in clichés will be damned when it comes to Avalon Emerson: There’s nothing dinky to be expected from the dinky producer. Her releases are versatile and brisk, and they all have a slight tendency towards cutting grooves. In retrospective, Emerson’s productions have moved from brutal peak-time-bombshells through souly African influences all the way to modern house and DJ-tool techno. Her path is comparable to her DJ-sets, in which she combines late 80s acid house with funky disco beats, only in order to get out the big techno hammer afterwards. In short, »Constantly My Cure« is picking up the threads where Emerson left them with »Let Me Love & Steal«. Hence, hands into the air at full throttle, until your joints hurt from euphoria, but in a slower pace, working well for the groove and an extra doses of acid. There’s a first glimpse of over-the-top melodies, but they are not maxed out until »Sword And Rose Forever«. »Hurdy Gurdy DJ Tool« tops it all when it comes to ferocity and brutally, and it snottily bangs its way out of your sound system. All in all, Emerson comes forward with her usual quality, while – despite the refreshing mutability – she keeps developing her very own signature sound. There’re many good reasons to await her forthcoming record excitedly.
