Twit One is a jack-of-all-trades: producer, DJ, curator, with a record shop, radio show and event series. Now he’s revealing a new side to himself. Together with vibraphonist Maxime von Koblinski and drummer Niklas Schneider, he forms the Cologne-based trio The Twit 1, II, Three. Their self-titled debut is due for release on 23 October 2026 via Melting Pot Music – as a limited edition of 300 copies on translucent bottle-green vinyl, available exclusively from HHV Records. They’ll be heading out on a short tour this autumn.
Hip-hop as an attitude
Twit One acts as a sort of musical director on The Twit 1, II, Three. He’s the guy with the vision and the samples. The ideas are then realised within the band context. The process is new to Twit. But his approach – seeing hip-hop as a mindset rather than a genre – remains the same. Consequently, the boundaries between hip-hop and jazz, Tropicalia or Krautrock are clearly blurred here. On »Getunnelt«, the tempo is slowed down to around 65 bpm. Bass drum, snare, synths swirling above; the vibraphone lays down a carpet with just a few notes, in which a soulful vocal sample gets caught. Only during the breaks does the rhythm pick up briefly. Guest appearances on The Twit 1, II, Three include Reginald Omas’ Mamode IV on »Love & Mercy« and Summers Sons’ Turt on »Nachbar«.
