Eighteen months after her Latin Grammy–nominated album Me Chama de Gato Que Eu Sou Sua, Ana Frango Elétrico returns with two new tracks. The release marks a meeting of generations – a dialogue between tradition and innovation. To that end, she collaborates with one of the key figures of Bossa Nova: Marcos Valle.
The first track, »A Sua Diversão«, was written with Tuca Monteiro and co-produced by Guilherme Lírio. It is a relaxed, funk-soaked song with gentle vocals, shimmering synths and a melody that lodges itself in the ear almost instantly. Ana’s bright voice glides effortlessly over the groove, while background vocals by Dora Morelenbaum, Patricia Alvi and Valle himself add a warm, enveloping depth.
On the B-side, Ana reinterprets Valle’s 1973 classic »Não Tem Nada Não«. Rather than simply reproducing the original, she reshapes it into a contemporary reimagining that elegantly bridges past and present. The duet with Valle, carried by Rhodes, leads into a bold interpolation of Crystal Waters’ »Gypsy Woman (She’s Homeless)« – reworked, however, in a Brazilian Bossa Nova mode. Here, 1970s Bossa, 1990s club energy and modern Brazilian funk merge into a lively conversation. Why this particular song is quoted remains unresolved – but that is precisely where Ana Frango Elétrico’s strength lies: she builds bridges, rethinks genres, and shows that Brazilian music can be far more than mere tradition.
