Strut Records

Strut Records is a London-based record label, founded in 1998 by Quinton Scott, specializing in reissues and rarities. Since 2008 it is a sub label of !K7 Records. The history of Strut Records can be divided into two phases. In the first phase from 1998 until 2003 Quinton Scott was widely known for his musical discoveries and for the lovingly designed booklets of the label. Especially his discoveries in Italo disco, afro-beat and calypso were outstanding. But after years of sacrifices he was forced to take a break. In the second phase !K7 Records stepped in in 2008 and kept Strut Records going again. Not just did they build a new studio, but started a label series bringing two very different musicians together on one record. Informaton Inspiration (that’s the name of the series) brought together Sly Robbie and Amp Fiddler, Mulatu Astatke and The Heliocentrics or Jimi Tenor and Tony Allen. Another highlight was the release of Grandmaster Flash’s first studio album in 20 years, __The Bridge__.
