Latin Jazz

**Latin Jazz combines jazz harmonies and improvisation with rhythms from Cuba, Brazil and the Caribbean. It is characterized by syncopated time signatures, clave structures and percussion instruments such as congas and bongos. Pioneering: Dizzy Gillespie, Chano Pozo, Tito Puente. Varieties such as Bossa Nova or Salsa Jazz broaden the spectrum of this fusion of Afro-American and Latin American music.
